February 2022: The announcement of Mixed Income Housing (MIH) and the Document Exchange Ceremony by Iskandar Capital Sdn. Bhd (Iskcap) was held in Iskandar Puteri today. The ceremony was officiated YB Dato’ Haji Mohammed Ridha bin Dato’ Haji Abd. Kadir, Deputy State Secretary of Johor (Development) as the representative of the State of Johor. The MIH project will be developed in Wawari, a 3,000 acres sustainable development by Iskcap.
In his speech, Dato’ Haji Mohammed Ridha highlighted the importance of close collaboration between the Johor Government and private sector in realizing the agenda of Johor state. “I am very pleased with IIB Group’s effort to understand the aspiration of Johor Government and embark in an inclusive and sustainable project such as the Mixed-Income Housing in Wawari, Iskandar Puteri.” He added, “The infrastructure development must be balanced with social development such as talent building, job creation and mindset transformation to prepare Johoreans for future development. The MIH project is a perfect example of ensuring holistic development and harmonious living of integrated communities.”

Iskandar Investment Berhad President/CEO, Datuk Khairil Anwar Ahmad, who is also the Chairman of Iskandar Capital Sdn Bhd, echoed the above and said, “The MIH is a model that promotes fair, equitable, inclusive and affordable housing for all income levels in Johor. Through this initiative, the low income (B40) and middle-income group (M40) can be neighbours living in one community. Iskcap is committed to continue in supporting the State Government in safeguarding the interest of the local community and increasing the number of home-ownership among Johoreans.”
MIH aims to minimize the segregation issues by creating a diverse community with all levels of society living harmoniously in one integrated community, connected by green infrastructures, modern facilities and quality services. MIH shall offer amenities with
elements of sustainability such as rainwater harvesting, solar panel, greenspaces and canopy trees, and waste management. An enhanced version of the Rumah Mampu Biaya Johor (RMBJ), also known as Value Homes (VH) and Value Plus Homes (VPH), the project focuses on a broader target market ranging from low to medium income. This first MIH project which is strategically located in close vicinity to Kota Iskandar and Medini City would be undertaken in collaboration with Shiya Development Sdn Bhd, a 100% Bumiputera-owned company.
Apart from that, today’s event also saw Iskcap’s collaboration with four other companies, namely, Marquis Oil Sdn. Bhd., Universiti Putra Malaysia, Awana Asia Sdn. Bhd. and Geo Sense Sdn. Bhd. which involved efforts towards increasing liveability and enhancing agricultural activities to support the Johor State’s food security agenda.
Development of the first MIH project will commence in 2023 and expected to complete in 2026.
