Highlights from Phase Two of the Program SURI (Srikandi Untuk Rakyat Inklusif) Pemimpin 2025

The second phase of PERANTIS (Program Perantis Kepimpinan Wanita) programme intensive leadership training for the female committee members of KRT Rumah Pangsa Larkin was conducted, solidifying the partnership between the community and the Social Hero Foundation (SHF).

The session was honored by the presence of our SHF Trustee, Datuk Seri Teo Shiok Fu. In his address to the 30 dedicated participants.

Datuk Seri Teo also highlighted, “By empowering women leaders at the grassroots community level, we are building a stronger foundation for the entire nation.”

Throughout the program, participants were introduced to five main modules specially designed to meet the current needs of community management. These modules included an introduction to using Microsoft Word and Google Docs for writing official letters and paperwork; an introduction to Excel and Google Sheets for data collection and creating forms and QR codes; presentation skills using PowerPoint and Canva; a basic understanding of the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) 2010; as well as techniques for preparing activity reports and project impact assessments.

“Through this program, we aim to ensure that every participant not only understands the theory but is also able to apply digital and management skills in their daily community tasks. This aligns with the government’s aspiration to develop technology-savvy and resilient community leaders,” said a representative of the Social Hero Foundation.

With the conclusion of this program, it is hoped that the participants can become pioneers in bringing positive change and more systematic management to their respective communities, while also contributing to the development of a more inclusive and sustainable society. However, the learning journey does not end there. To ensure lasting impact and practical application, this training bloc will be followed by a dedicated three-month mentoring period. During this time, SHF’s lead trainers, Farrah Baptist and Tokoh PERANTIS, Sheila Grewal, will provide ongoing guidance and support to the KRT members as they implement their new leadership capabilities within the community.

The second phase was more than just a training day; it was a powerful affirmation of shared purpose. It reinforced the vital role of partnerships between government bodies, non-profit organizations like SHF, and local community leaders in fostering sustainable social development and empowering the women who are essential to nation-building.
